Initial room was "tired" but we were then upgraded at no extra cost. Whilst we are overall positive about our stay there are minor tweaks that are needed. Get the impression there isn't enough thought going into things. There were also other guests with a number of complaints who clearly weren't happy. Thought the breakfasts were the best we've had though. Plentiful and fried eggs nicely cooked.
Other Comments
Little things matter. A hook on the back of the bathroom door. No drawers anywhere in the room. A soft close toilet seat would make things seem more luxurious. Wouldn't cost a lot.

Enjoyed my stay there. Good sized, clean room, comfy bed. Meals included were plentiful, varied and tasty. Great location as a base for exploring the Forest of Dean, Ross on Wye and Monmouth.

Warm welcome at reception. The hotel and clubhouse seemed to be well used by locals and golfers not staying at the hotel, which was a good sign.
