This was our first stay at the George hotel. Our room was on the first floor. Quite a few steps to negotiate, but this is an old building and does not have a lift. The room itself was excellent with a very comfortable double bed, a nice bathroom and all the usual amenities, TV, Telephone and tea/Coffee making facilities. It also had Air-Con which was well used during our stay.
The decor of the room was very tasteful as it was in the other areas of the hotel. We dined in the restaurant on both evenings of our stay and we both agreed that the food provided was nicely presented and very good quality. The breakfasts we had were also very good. Plenty of choice and plenty to eat.
The staff here had obviously been very well trained. They were attentive and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.
We really enjoyed our stay at the George and we would definitely return there in the future.

Perfect location to explore Colchester and helpful, friendly staff.
City centre location inevitably means more noise at night, however, on the plus side it also means it’s possible to leave the car parked Up for the weekend if you wish.
