We had an absolutely lovely and interesting day. We learnt about some of the items we could and shouldn’t eat and some ideas about how to prepare them. We then went to his restaurant and tried his lovely liqueurs and then had a gorgeous 3 course meal.

Due to the time of year (June) there were plenty of wild flowers , about which there was little or poor information, but very littlein the way of food plants. There was no foraging at all, and the meal didn't really feature wild or foraged ingredients. it was not clear we would be travelling long distances by car between venues. there was no provision of directions , only a list of which three words,. There is poor mobile signal throughout the area , so inadvisable to rely on this. His restaurant is in Sherborne, about 20 miles away from the meeting venue. I would not have booked this trip if I had known

This was so informative and fun at the same time. Mat is clearly passionate about foraging (almost as much as the gin making) and this comes across with his ease of explaining and way of talking about wild food. Lunch was greatr as was the gin tasting
