Great day out, Mat was charming, COVID and knock on effects caused a little bit of problem with the re-booking, but all sorted in the end . Enjoyed the liqueur samples and will probably buy when website etc up and running for that. depending on price of course! Picked up some very useful tips and information.

All in all, it was a lovely day; I purchased the vouchers at Christmas-time for my boyfriend. He is a gardener by trade and I thought it would be interesting to look at what plants we could eat when we are out travelling in woods local to us. Mat was very knowledgeable, approachable and up-front. No question was too "stupid" and he was honest if he didn't know something but it was reassuring to go foraging with someone who knows their stuff. In addition, Mat's expertise in the kitchen meant he gave me lots of inspiration of things to cook (or drinks to brew!) with the stuff that we found and I'm really excited about getting back out there with by boyfriend and trying out some new ideas. If you're looking for mushrooms, this isn't your course as Mat says this is too specialised to teach in a day's course which is totally fair and the safest way to be. We would have obviously liked to book earlier in the year but, because of lockdown restrictions, weren't able to. However, there was still lots of stuff to sample by the beach, hedgerow, and woodland. My boyfriend was made up that Mat took us foraging in some of his favourite places in Dorset and really enjoyed this as a present. The food and gin were lovely too and we can't wait to go back to Mat's restaurant when it's fully up and running. Thank you for hosting such a lovely, enjoyable day :-)

Matt is a natural communicator, finding a balance between informing and entertaining to help you to remember and identify the most popular plants, including how they can be used in cooking. The lunch afterwards was great.

Mat was a great host and very formative about the plants we found, gave us plenty of ideas to take away to try foraging on our own.
