  • Built in 1894, ivy-clad Kentisbury Grange mixes Regency and Victorian Gothic features. It was built for a Lancashire cotton merchant and sits in attractive landscaped grounds. Ducks, pheasants, and rabbits roam the gardens, and at night the lakes are floodlit.
  • The Coach House restaurant and cocktail bar serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks. It's located in a separate building behind the house. The Daily Telegraph praises the "excellent food" on offer.
  • Stylish Classic Double Rooms are located in the main house. You can also opt for a Cottage Suite in the gardens (supplements apply). These have a super-king bed, walk-in shower, freestanding bath, underfloor heating, and sun terrace.
  • Kentisbury Grange is located within Exmoor National Park. A huge choice of walking routes is on offer. The South West Coast Path and the Tarka cycling trail are both a short drive away.
  • Lynton and Lynmouth on the North Devon coast are less than 20 minutes' drive away. These picturesque towns are connected by a Victorian funicular railway running up the steep gorge.
  • Barnstaple is around 25 minutes' drive from the hotel. It's noted for its historic pannier market which runs five days a week.

We stayed in one of the cottages. Really lovely experience. Nice furnishings, great bathroom. Lots of space & thoughtful touches.

Breakfast was nice but not special. Little in the way of fruit & yoghurt. The fruit was not prepared, merely cut with skin still in place making for a messy prep at table. No pastries. Cooked breakfast was delicious.

Beautiful place but restaurant run by 2 very young members of staff. I ordered a glass of wine and then ordered a 2nd glass of a different wine and the young man serving asked me if it was okay to use the same glass! This was 2 different types of wine! He also did the same with my husband when he ordeted a second glass of coder! A big no no!

Lovely and peaceful with clean and generous rooms. Delicious food. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only negatives were music at breakfast was a bit too poppy for that time in the morning - gentle classical would have been more appropriate for the clientele and maybe one or two cheaper everyday meals on the dinner menu. What we ate was delicious, but we didn't want fine dining on both nights. Unfortunately, no cheaper options meant that we went elsewhere on the second night, which was a shame. Otherwise, a top notch stat. Thank you.

Location is remote. Main house has been refurbished to an exceptional high standard. Best bed I have ever slept in. Restaurant was excellent but is very large. Food was exceptionally good & great value. Overall I would score it exceptional.
