Why We Love This Deal
Clovelly is a unique pedestrian-only village on the Devon Heritage Coast. Cobbled lanes, whitewashed cottages, and fishing boats lend it a "quaint, yesteryear feel" (BBC Travel). This 2-night offer at The New Inn is less than £100 per person from April until June.
What's Included
Valid seven days a week from 1 April–30 June, 2025
Two nights' accommodation in a Standard Double Ensuite room, with daily full English breakfast, for two
Cream tea for two, once per stay (worth £8.50 per person)
Set into a cleft on North Devon's coastline, Clovelly is a historic landmark. It continues to preserve its fishing village heritage.
A scenic path winds down from the top of the 400-foot cliff. Stroll along whitewashed cottages to the quay with views of the Atlantic.
The New Inn was built in the 17th century and is halfway down Clovelly's cobbled hill. It has 11 rooms, some of which have balconies.
The village served as a shooting location for "Sense and Sensibility" and "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society".

john and wife are great attributes to the Inn and made our stay. Evening meals are expensive all circa #19 when we visited. However, most are more than enough to fill you and the Fish and Chips are particularly large.

When we arrived there was no staff to check in and instructions to fill out all your paperwork and keys left on a desk to go find your room ??? Building is tired and needs desperate renovation. Avoid plastic cheap sausages for breakfast. A jumble sale of cutlery and crockery in breakfast room !

We had a lovely room with a sea view and bath as requested.
We were booked in my the bar manager - who was really the only member of staff we saw and complained all the time about how many hours he was working.
Other Comments
The cream tea - was in a polystyrene box in our room - a little disappointing - also difficult as the only place to eat it was on the bed.
The evening meals were basic pub food but not cheap and cheerful.

Early in March was a good time to go as it wasn’t too busy and the spring flowers were out, however, a number of the attractions such as the shop, tea rooms, fisherman’s cottage museum were closed. What made it special for us was that everyone had time to talk and be friendly, residents of Clovelly and visitors alike.

The only positive thing I can think of about this room was the shower which was at least hot

Our room wasn't in the main Hotel building but in a separate building across the cobbles. It was a cold, shabby miserable room with broken furniture and the thinnest duvet (we had to spread our coats on top of the bed at night). I went through the seat of the rattan chair not realising it was broken. The bathroom was also very cold and bare with the tiniest heated towel rail. Reception didn't seem concerned when I told them how disappointed I was with our room and the dodgy chair.
A local told me that the rooms in that building were usually only used for people passing through eg hikers.
I bought this voucher based on the pictures and reviews on the New Inn website most of which were favourable but I'm guessing we were given the room which had received the terrible reviews. We've had quite a few Travelzoo hotel breaks , all of which have been really good but this one fell well short of the mark. I'm sure the rooms in the main hotel were probably fine but we obviously drew the short straw. So for anyone booking at this hotel - AVOID ROOM 21 !!
Very very disappointed!!

Really wonderful staff (John & Corol) made us very welcome. Super friendly and helpful. Great breakfast. Ate one night in the restaurant- very good food - fish & chips - and great value for money
We (like a lot of other people I imagine) were desperately in need of a break and this deal came up at exactly the right time. The very friendly staff welcomed us warmly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was spacious and spotless with a little balcony but sadly we couldn't sit on it as it was so cold (it was February!) We dined there both nights of our stay and the food was delicious. Had we been a bit younger and fitter, a walk down to the harbour would have been the icing on the cake but not possible for our 76+ year old arthritic knees so we just slowly strolled uphill and visited the Clovelly walled gardens and church (both beautiful) and back for our delightful cream tea. A much needed and welcome break, made even better by the glorious views, sunshine and John and Corals care of us.

Fantastic hosts John and Coral. Corals home made meals were excellent. They are an asset to the hotel! Excellent location, Room 2 had a wonderful sea view and window seat, bright , airey and clean, particularly bedding and towels. The hotel is in need of an update and wouldn’t be what we would normally choose, however, the hosts and cleanliness made it a really lovely stay! Fantastic value with the Travelzoo voucher

The only down point is the cobbled steep walk down from the car park, wear sturdy walking boots, I didn't and twisted my knee badly.

Fantastic place to visit. Clovelly is one of a kind.
Off season, so non of the tourist spots were open, but we had a lovely time.
We drove around the area and visited a lot of local villages. Hartland Quay is incredible.
The offer was great value for money.

Lovely staff, they really couldn't do enough for you. Cream tea was good. Rooms are dated and could do with a spruce up. This was our second visit, so feel we've seen everything Clovelly has to offer.

I'll start by saying the staff were lovely, and did their best, and Clovelly is as gorgeous as ever despite a lot of building work, scaffolding and banging and crashing this summer. However, this formerly lovely and characterful hotel is now on its uppers, and desperately in need of refurbishment. It certainly wasn't worth what we paid, even at Travelzoo rates. Rooms are woefully grubby, as was our kettle, and showers/baths are just about adequate. Paint is peeling off walls and window frames (we had to ask for another room as it was depressingly dusty and unmaintained), the inner lock on our bathroom was falling off and there were extensive spiders' webs on our filthy balcony (though our eventual room was tiny, so we were very glad to have it). Additionally, and while our dog enjoyed her breakfast sausage, hygiene was lacking at breakfast (sliced breads remained in their supermarket plastic bags, which everyone put their hands in - ugh)! We went for a much-needed break, but were actually relieved to get home. So disappointed.

We had a lovely room with sea views and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The extractor fan in the bathroom did not work but was not an issue. The staff were polite and friendly but did not offer information unless you asked and were not forthcoming with how the basic information you would expect such as when you came down to breakfast in the morning as to what was self-service and what was not. At no point were we offered any information about the cream tea or the the entrance to the Court Gardens which were included in the price.

Warm welcome, friendly staff however our room was very cramped especially as we had our dog with us. It was not cleaned daily which was not a major problem but it would have been useful to know. Breakfast was great but evening menu was unimaginative and limited.

The room was comfortable though needed a bit of tlc. The staff were generally helpful.
Other Comments
The food, although enjoyable was overpriced. The cooked breakfast was good but apart from cereal there was no other choice - no yoghurt, almost no fruit, no pastries. The most disappointing was the cream tea that was included in the deal. It was served in a takeaway container with tea in paper cups and resembled dishwater. The scones had obviously just been taken out of the fridge and were cold and hard as was the cream.

Other Comments
Room was not up to standard. Dog biscuits on floor, bed uncomfortable, pillows pointless, curtains didn't cover windows, could hear guests upstairs clearly, room next to toilets, could hear the flush every time, no sugar in room, food overpriced and average, so may little things but overall a very poor experience.

Great location, but the room was absolutely tiny, it should only be a single room, not enough room to fit two people in it, one of us had to sit on the bed for the other to walk around! It was also rather grubby, and should have been much cleaner. Breakfast was lovely, but spider webs and dead flies surrounded me!

Had a lovely couple of days here...We had room 2 which had the most amazing views...No problem with the rest of the room..yes the place is a little tired..But I feel if the owners actually cared about the place they could so much to improve the hotel..Food was okay but very overpriced..but because of the location i feel they just sit on the laurels when so much more could be achieved..Another case of too many "chiefs" and not enough Indians....

Bit difficult to walk down the cobbled steps from car park to hotel entrance, particularly with cases. No support offered to take luggage back to the car on departure as promised in the advert so that is misleading and was a bit of an inconvenience on the return journey.
