Good experience, lovely restaurant staff, although some fine tuning needed.

The check in could of been better. There was no acknowledgement made by the receptionist as she was in the midst of making a booking on the phone. Would of been nice for her to make eye contact and greet us. Perhaps bookings could be forwarded to the nearby office therefore enabling her to meet and greet incoming customers . The food on the first night wasn't hot and the roast we ordered was of poor standard with lack of vegetables. Potatoes in skin, not roasted with hardly any amount of meat. There were no trimmings such as stuffing only a huge yorkshire pudding hiding a tiny piece of brocholli and 2 small parsnips. The starters, deserts and breakfasts the next day were good. Unfortunately we were blocked in the carpark once we left the hotel on the morning we returned home by 3 large coaches picking up customers for 15 minutes. Maybe this could be looked into ensuring one coach picks up customers whilst the other two wait in the spaces allocated in them.

A bit tired in places but clean and staff very pleasant and helpful. Dinner good. Only there for one night. Good magician entertainment.

The staff are what makes this hotel so good. Guests are made so welcome and many keep returning.

Furniture and bed base in room could do with upgrading and double bed could be kingsize

Great value for money, located in easy distance of Torquay. Evening entertainment which was a nice surprise. What make this hotel special is the staff, super friendly, excellent service.

We bought a voucher with Travelzoo for 1 night, 3 course dinner and breakfast in October 2022. In January 2023 I exchanged emails with reception to confirm the date I wanted in February. 2 weeks after I also called the hotel to make sure everything was okay. When the date came, we arrived to check in. The car park was full and receptionist said we could park outside the hotel in a double yellow line. My reservation was not on the system, despite emails and phone call explained above. The staff was trying to be nice but clearly need proper training, as I was addressed as “sweetheart” and was asked were I’m “really from” after I’ve already answered Cornwall. Despite this inconvenience they still charged me £10 extra for being a Saturday. They couldn’t find the reservation but were able to check us in anyway. They gave us a room already taken, so we had to come down again to complain and get another room. The room and bathroom were tiny, with only a plug next to the TV. The toilet was dirty. The place smells funny. We came down for a drink before dinner but when the restaurant opened a large group of about 30 people immediately entered, so we decided to go out for dinner instead of using the one included on the voucher. When we returned the staff approached to say they’ve been calling us for dinner, implying we should have let them know our plans. The next morning housekeeping knocked every door at 8:30 am (on a Sunday) and woke us up. We couldn’t go back to sleep so decided to come down for breakfast. I was told is allocated tables after I sat so got up to be walked to my allocated table, except there wasn’t any. At this point we decided to leave.

People are amazing ,service, cleanliness, food nice. Rooms are a bit tired , shower room particularly but beds very comfortable

Easy parking, check in simple and fast. Staff super friendly. Room good, a double and single, bath a bit small for me but I’m 6’2”. Food excellent, more toast, coffee etc offers at breakfast and very friendly and helpful. Location spot on, one way beach & harbour, the other beach & shops.
