It looks good from the outside and the grounds are attractive and extensive. The view from our window was lovely. The breakfasts were huge and well cooked.

SWe seemed to be the only people without dogs! Dogs in the restaurant, dogs in the rooms......this was not advertised as a dog hotel and my partner was concerned about allergies lurking in the carpets. The room was a good size but the bedding was poor standard and the bathroom had no shelf for toiletries, if you had a bath you could not reach the shampoo or gel which was fixed high on the wall.. The food was mediocre at best and the staff with a couple of exceptions lacked training . Sorry to be negative .

Dining ambience was a little muted and lacking in atmosphere, but we were spaced out due to Covid.

Had a wonderful stay, everything was lovely, room, breakfast, staff and definitely their cream tea. We had a very large room and very comfortable beds,a small patio outside our patio doors, set with a table and chairs. Was a little let down by the taster menu, just seemed like pub food that they had tried to elevate to gourmet level. Deep fried cod but no tartare sauce for it and cheese and pheasant deep fried bonbons, if there was pheasant in them we couldn’t find it. There was a melted Brie but nothing to put in it as bread had been brought to the table at the beginning. Also, cinnamon bread with balsamic and olive oil to dip it in! The pudding was sold as pistachio financier with chocolate mousse and cherry sorbet. There were 2 financiers that were stale and approx 1”x1” big. The chocolate mousse was just 2 small blobs. There was very little taste in the whole thing and was very disappointing. But yet the petit fours a lovely dark chocolate and homemade marshmallow were delicious. Saying that we would have happily forgone the petit fours in order to have a more tasty dessert.

Stayed for two nights at this lovely hotel which was set in an idyllic peaceful location. Staff were helpful attentive and friendly. Special mention to Megan who was run off her feet but always had a smile on her face and went out of her way to help. Although the restaurant service was slow at times the food was delicious and well worth the wait.
