£55—Cumbria spa: lunch, bubbly & facilities for 2

I went with 7 friends. Staff are lovely and helpful. This was a great deal and we had lunch in the dining room. Fabulous views.

Very relaxing

Lovely afternoon tea, brilliant staff. On the whole a pleasant environment and spa, yet room for improvement at the spa. Mold on the wall where beds are, broken showers not informed about.

Took a while to get through on the phone but left a message and my call was returned. Easy once we arrived. Had the Spa to ourselves which was great. Then through to the main hotel lounge for the afternoon tea.

I ordered an afternoon tea without cheese and this didn't happen until I asked the staff just before serving. Also had to remind the barman that we got a processco with it but the guy was new, he was very polite.

I have used the TravelZoo vouchers for the Netherwood a few times now. We travel from Manchester and so it isn’t exactly local but we enjoy it very much. On this latest occasion there were a couple of issues, nothing major but they did impact on our enjoyment of the day. The first issue was in the spa area. The sauna and steam room were just not how enough. Even when sitting on the top bench the rooms just did not seem to get hot. I enjoy using the cold plunge and will sit in the cold water for up to 1min 30 seconds at a time. I alternate hot and cold. When I did so on this occasion parts of my body remained cool even after sitting for 10 - 15 mins in the steam/sauna. Speaking with my group and with other users we agreed that both could have been dialled up a notch or few to give a much better thermal experience. To be clear this hasn’t been an issue on previous visits. The second issue was with the afternoon tea. The afternoon tea itself was lovely as always however, there was not enough staff. There were only 2 staff members serving the afternoon teas and they were also serving other areas of the hotel including outside the hotel. We were not even acknowledged upon arrival and so seated ourselves at our reserved table. We were left waiting whilst other guests were served and tables were cleared. We were waiting for around 20 minutes before we were even offered a glass of Prosecco and then around another 20 minutes before any food arrived. I am not blaming the staff who were clearly trying to manage the various competing demands upon them. It wasn’t clear whether the hotel had only scheduled two waiting staff or whether someone had perhaps called in sick and left them short handed but it did impact upon our experience on the day. I hope that these issues were no more than glitches and that future visits will live up to our previous experiences at The Netherwood Spa which were lovely and very much enjoyed.

Beautiful place, enjoyed spa especially aromatherapy steam room. I thought it looked too busy when we got into spa but it wasn't and we moved about freely, not feeling rushed. Would definitely go again.

Service in the hotel was friendly, polite and nothing too much trouble.

Wonderful relaxing spa area with very good facilities and only allowing a small number of people at any given time. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The afternoon tea, in the hotel, is excellent, with an excellent assortment of sandwiches and fancy cakes and pastries. The panelled dining room is very welcoming and comfortable.

Had a lovely afternoon, staff were attentive.

Overall it was nice. And the lunch was good.

Could do with a bigger changing room with more privacy.

A Mothers Day treat with my grown up daughters

A very relaxing day with my mum and sister to celebrate my mums birthday. It’s was fairly quiet when we arrived so was easy to move around the different areas, water provided in the dipping area which is an added bonus. The only thing we encountered was the music kept skipping which got a little annoying especially when chilling out on the loungers. Only 3 showers so you have to time it right to get a shower. Lunch was delicious.

The 1.5 hours went in no time. Enjoyed the tub room and the saunas dry and steam x delicious lunch afterwards to

Beautiful position overlooking Morecambe Bay, nice garden very well planted. Lovely old Hotel very well ran.

Staff members were very friendly and helpful throughout the day. We had lunch in the restaurant which was nice however did expect the menu to have a greater variety. Very limited. Overall a lovely experience.

Hotel in an elevated location with good views. Compact spa is well organised so it didn't feel crowded. Excellent afternoon tea with friendly service.

Warm welcome, facilities good but jacuzzis a bit small. Llvely coffee and lunch, very pleasant staff.

The Netherwood is in a beautiful location. Loved the Spa. Lunch menu was a little disappointing. Overall great value for money.

Very welcoming spa staff & efficient waitress & waiter serving the afternoon tea. Just a shame there isn’t a swimming pool!

Very enjoyable and relaxing afternoon. We were a little disappointed there wasn’t a swimming pool but that gave more relaxation time! Afternoon tea was lovely in the hotel.

Pleasant staff, made you very welcome. Small spa, with limited facilities, but very compact.

Would have liked a small swimming area. The hot tub could have been hotter. Realistically can only accommodate a small number of people.
