The Cumbrian market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland is great for ramblers, with plenty of trails passing through it. The North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales national parks are also less than 30 minutes' drive away. After initial booking, further emails were ignored where I tried to book the evening meal and check that twin beds were set up, not double as my plans had changed and my best friend was accompanying me on the trip. I'd booked Crown Cottage which was lovely apart from the fact that a double bed was made up. We had breakfasts and an evening meal at the pub but didn't receive a warm welcome and breakfast was disorganised. The food was good though and we enjoyed the cottage.

Located in the town center so doesn't have its own car park but was provided with a parking disc gor the market place parking to cover 2 hours from 8am and three was free parking a short walk away - staff were very helpful and the evening food and breakfast were excellent - be mindfully though that these are rooms above a busy establishment however we were not disturbed by any noise and the bar was busy on the Sunday evening - The town of Appleby is lovely especially if you like architecture

It’s a great hotel in the centre of Appleby. Rooms well equipped and spacious, very clean and of a good standard. The staff were very friendly and helpful providing a great service. Food was first class with plenty of choice and good sized portions. Will definitely go back.

It was a new destination for us & we thoroughly enjoyed it!
The Crown & Cushion is a traditional pub, full of atmosphere, serving traditional home-cooked delicious food.
Our room was modern with everything you could possibly need.
We wouldn't hesitate to return!
