Had an amazing time, picnic area next to carpark as well as Peacock Cafe. First time I didn't tour the house as it wasn't included in the tickets. So pleased that it did this time.....Sue our guide seemed a little frosty at first but she was amazing......really wish now that The National Trust did a guide tour like Pencarrow.......as an added bonus we actually met the Lady of the house!!! She was feeding the ducks and Geese/goslings at the lake. Very chatty and a lovely down to earth Lady Molesworth St- Aubyn or is she the Dowager lady now?......Whatever ......she was lovely and the grounds were immaculate! There is a shop and a book cabin too. Well worth a visit......there are peacocks too!! Horses in the field and a lovely play area for the children.

The overall experience was really good and staff helpful in the main. Lots of history about the family and plenty of artifacts of interest yo view.
Other Comments
They are very protective of the artifacts and that should be so but I felt on the guided tour you didn't have any time to further look and digest the information of the rooms and contents before moving onto the next room. I had two mobile disabled ladies with me. They where able to be seated to watch on video the upstairs rooms. Which was useful for anyone who cannot manage stairs.

It was peaceful but not really worth the journey there - better places to visit.
Other Comments
Gardens lacked colour - pots with no flowers. Signposting around the gardens beyond the formal area very poor. Track to the toilets not really suitable for a disabled person. Gardens not really accessible at all to someone with a wheelchair. Not sure how it could be possible to navigate beyond a few little areas with a wheelchair. With a walking aid, almost impossible.

Have visited before at the height of summer when gardens were at their best. It was interesting to see they're still beautiful when the weather is slightly cooler. As there is quite a lot of walking the cooler temperature made it more comfortable.

We were staying locally and just turned up here with our voucher. Access was no problem and we had a lovely walk around the garden, followed by a cold drink in the courtyard.
Other Comments
We ended up walking the longest route by accident. Some of the paths are steep and not ideal for someone awaiting a hip replacement! That said, we had a map (provided on arrival) so that was our fault. May go back next time fora tour around the house. Beautiful gardens and well worth the visit, especially at this price!

Historic house with 50 acres of land, probably best in early summer to see the flowers, quiet and peaceful.
Small cafe on site with home made cakes and food, enjoyable experience and good value.

I've always liked this property, which is still in private ownership. The gardens are beautiful, the peacocks a particular attraction for me as I'm potty about beautiful avian creatures, and the house looks very interesting (we haven't had time to look in it yet). There is a nice (currently outdoor) tea shop which is very nice on a sunny day, and dogs are permitted in the gardens.
Other Comments
Please keep your dog(s) on leads unless you are absolutely sure how they will behave around birds and wildlife - I was most upset to read the signs stating that some of the peacocks and other creatures had been killed by dogs (they are allowed off leads in the wider park).
