"Soak up the tranquillity of this perfectly English Edwardian home", says The AA of Winterbourne House and Garden in Edgbaston, just outside central Birmingham. The Arts and Crafts-style house is a rare surviving example of an early 20th-century suburban villa and is set in seven acres of "beautiful" gardens. Entry is £5 with this offer, and saves 39% on the regular price.

More Reasons to Go
- "Winterbourne is a hidden gem", says The AA.
- The Edwardian property was built in 1903 for John Nettlefold, a pioneer of housing reform in Birmingham.
- Inspired by the work of Gertrude Jekyll, the Grade II-listed gardens are home to over 6000 different plant species and feature a Japanese bridge and a nut walk.
- The "gardens are a stunning spectacle all year round", according to Real Homes, which named Winterbourne Gardens as one of the top ten British gardens to visit.

Fabulous afternoon spent in the house, gardens and tea rooms. Vast collection of plants, greenhouses and trees, including some which are weird and wonderful to behold. Good value experience.
Other Comments
The only thing that marred our visit was the attitude of some of the tea room staff - seemed a little unfriendly and charmless.

A really pleasant soothing experience just to be able to walk around such wonderful gardens. In fact we were so long outside we ran out of time to look at the house - good excuse to go again!

Weather was not as good as on first visit, but the staff provided a wheelchair to get round the garden, after we had enjoyed coffees in the café beforehand.
Other Comments
Staff were very helpful, due to my partner having mobility problems. But did not need any additional help with the wheelchair and we saw all the gardens.

Lovely place to visit. Only drawback was the huge queue for food. Staff were overwhelmed and some of the food options had run out by the time we were served.
