Placencia, located on the southern coast of Belize, offers easy access to beaches, the ocean and jungle adventures. One side of the peninsula is a mangrove-lined lagoon, a popular place to spot manatees, and the other is surrounded by the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea.
The Placencia Resort offers 4-star accommodations and tons of on- and off-site activities. Guest rooms are spacious and bright with air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi and coffee makers. Rooms range from a standard queen room to a three-bedroom villa or private house -- all of which have either a private outdoor patio, porch or balcony.
Guests can relax by the spacious pool, have a drink at the swim-up bar or take a walk along the private beach. Nature lovers and adventurers can also schedule excursions, including fishing, zip-lining, scuba diving, snorkeling and a jungle tour. Guests also have free access to kayaks, paddle boards, volleyball courts and an area shuttle.
For an additional fee, guests can also schedule a day trip to the resort's private 2-acre island, Ranguana Caye. The package includes a full day on the island with beach games, paddle boarding, snorkeling, or just nap in a hammock under the Caribbean sun -- plus there's a beach barbecue lunch and a bar for drinks in the afternoon.
