The Bridge Hotel is a cosy, modern, privately owned 3-star hotel and apartment complex on the banks of the River Amstel, near the picturesque Maghere Brug wooden drawbridge (known as the "Skinny Bridge") and the Netherlands' most famous theatre, the Carré -- we’d recommend seeing a show there.
The hotel's marble lobby evokes the building's former incarnation as a natural stone warehouse at the end of the 19th century. A century later, it was rebuilt as a hotel thanks to its attractive central location overlooking canals and the River Amstel. The hotel is only a 15-minute walk from the Natura Artis Magistra zoo -- one of the oldest zoos in Europe, which also features an aquarium and a planetarium -- and a 29-minute walk from Anne Frankhuis, where the young Jewish author famously hid during the Nazi occupation. Rembrandtplein and Waterlooplein are within nine minutes' walk from the hotel, and the Weesperplein tram is a 5-minute walk.
The 53 bright, modern 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-bed rooms all have flat-screen TVs and include free Wi-Fi; some have skylights instead of windows. Upgraded rooms have canal views, and one room has a kitchen. The larger upper-floor, 2-bedroom apartments include one double and two twin beds, a fitted kitchen, a large living/dining room and fantastic views over the River Amstel (note: there is no lift). A minimum stay of four days is required during major holidays; check with the hotel when booking.
The complimentary breakfast buffet is served in a contemporary dining room. Additional amenities include a courtyard, a lounge, bike rentals and locker storage, plus a coin-operated laundry. Baby beds are also available, and you can park your bike indoors. The owners offer 24-hour reception, and a ticket service for tours and museums.
