Hotel Spiess & Spiess
About the Hotel
Why We Love This Hotel
"Ideal for those who want to be close but not too close" (Fodor's), Hotel Spiess & Spiess offers boutique-style accommodation "a quick hop from the centre on the U3 line, yet far enough from the crowds to feel truly calm" (The Daily Telegraph).
Set in a residential area, this family-run hotel occupies an elegant 19th-century townhouse, a few minutes' walk from both Rochusmarkt, which is packed with food and flower stalls, and shop-lined Landstrasser Hauptstrasse. The Hundertwasserhaus -- an Expressionist-style apartment house that is one of the city's most visited buildings -- is around five minutes' walk away and Stadtpark, Vienna's largest public park in the city centre, is around 10 minutes' walk away.
The Daily Telegraph praises the "light drenched" interiors, which have floor-to-ceiling windows and whitewashed walls that "amplify the feeling of space". A buffet breakfast is served in the conservatory dining room -- there's a "tempting smorgasbord of fresh fruit salad, bacon and eggs, cereals and pastries", says Lonely Planet. There's also a bar.
The hotel’s "crisp white rooms" (Lonely Planet) feature streamlined contemporary décor in neutral tones and come with free Wi-Fi, TVs and air conditioning, as well as underfloor heating, mini bars, and organic tea- and coffee-making facilities.
