Why We Love This Hotel

  • This country house-inspired hotel is built around a farmhouse dating from the 17th century
  • The hotel is 25 minutes' drive from World of Wedgwood and Trentham Monkey Forest
  • It has a characterful wood-beamed bar and restaurant
  • Leisure facilities include a gym, an indoor pool and a sauna

Manor House Hotel on the Cheshire-Staffordshire borders combines "period architecture with a stylish interior", says The AA. Set off a tree-lined road in the village of Alsager, the hotel consists of a 17th-century former farmhouse and modern redbrick buildings in the same style.

The property is 20 minutes' drive from the centre of Crewe and the Emma Bridgewater Factory in Stoke-on-Trent, and 25 minutes' drive from both family-friendly Trentham Monkey Forest and the World of Wedgwood -- this museum is dedicated to the history of the porcelain manufacturer, and offers guided tours. The edge of the Peak District National Park, a rolling landscape dotted with ancient villages and stately homes, is around 40 minutes' drive from the hotel.

Manor House Hotel has a modern country house feel, with contemporary furnishing throughout, a large skylight in the smart lobby lounge, and characterful wooden beams in the Stables Bar and Grill restaurant, which serves light bites and classic pub favourites. Guests can relax on wicker chairs by the fountain in the courtyard, take a dip in the indoor pool and unwind in the sauna. There's also a fully equipped gym.

The "attractive" (The AA) guestrooms are decorated in warm, neutral tones with patterned fabrics. Each has free Wi-Fi, a TV, an iPod dock and tea- and coffee-making facilities.

We stayed for one night only. The room was a good size, comfortable and well appointed. The bathroom was a very good standard. The restaurant was a high standard, but consequently quite expensive. We would probably have gone elsewhere to find a country pub if we had been staying longer. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. There was plenty of parking and nice outdoor space for use in good weather. The pool looked very inviting but we forgot to pack swimming gear.

From check-in to check-out, great service! Room, bathroom, bar area, restaurant, food, pool area - all better than expected! .... and as for the staff - some of the best I've seen! Nothing was too much trouble ans they all looked as if they wanted to be there - a rarity sometimes! The only downside is having to use the M6 to get there! ;-) Go back?? Absolutely!!

Really enjoyed a relaxing two night stay here. Polite staff nice peaceful rooms and lovely breakfasts. It was very chaotic in the restaurant on the Saturday night and for that reason we didn’t eat there on the Sunday . The pool was a lovely added luxury . Very good stay .

Food was only ok on the Saturday I chose the Pate and it wasn’t really chilled and very runny was not keen to eat it .
