The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island
About the Hotel
Why We Love This Hotel
- AAA 5-Diamond hotel with luxurious amenities like Frette linens
- Activities on site include an 18-hole PGA golf course, nine tennis courts, two pools, a spa, cooking classes and a kids club -- not to mention the beach
- U.S. News & World Report's 2019 lists rank the Ritz No. 1 in "Best Jacksonville Hotels" and No. 11 in "Best USA Resorts"
- All rooms feature either balconies or patios looking out on the water
Standing along a stretch of private beach on a former Spanish pirate hideout, the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island is "the height of luxury, decadence and impeccable service" (Lonely Planet). Equally popular among honeymooners, families with children and snowbirds, the Ritz offers a host of activities tailored to all age groups -- like its Kids Club (ages 5-12), the teens-only Our space, as well as an exclusive adults-only spa and cocktail lounge.
All rooms include either a balcony or a patio overlooking the water. However, from a Coastal View Room, you may have to step outside before taking in the scenery. Floor-to-ceiling windows, 400-thread-count Frette Egyptian cotton linens and marble bathrooms with Asprey bath products come standard, as well as free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. We recommend upgrading to a Club Level Room in order to enjoy complimentary breakfast, snacks and hors d'oeuvres throughout the day, plus access to the hotel's Club Lounge. Suites are also available with separate living, dining and bedroom areas.
The Ritz Carlton's luxury status ultimately boils down to its personalized touch. For instance, parents of young children can arrange for bedtime stories read by a pirate- or princess-themed character -- who arrives with milk, cookies and a literal treasure chest of other goodies. Guests can also reserve a private five-course dinner with included wine pairings at the hotel's flagship restaurant, Salt, which Conde Nast Traveler called its "all-time favorite."
