Why We Love This Hotel

  • This contemporary hotel opened in December, 2018, and is in the trendy RopeWalks district, a few minutes' walk from the Liverpool ONE shopping complex
  • Royal Albert Dock, home to Tate Liverpool, is around 15 minutes' walk away
  • Facilities include a lounge bar and a fitness room, and Mason's restaurant
  • Some of the rooms have terraces with city views

Rough Guides describes Liverpool as a "dynamic, exciting place" with a "fascinating social history", and Seel Street Hotel by EPIC offers upscale modern accommodation in an ideal spot from which to explore the city's attractions.

Set in the bohemian RopeWalks district, the hotel opened in December, 2018, and occupies a contemporary building on a street lined with converted redbrick warehouses. It's a few minutes' walk from Liverpool ONE, a shopping and leisure complex with 170 stores, and there are also a host of bars, restaurants and nightclubs on the doorstep.

Head to the river to see the Three Graces -- the Royal Liver Building, the Port of Liverpool Building and the Cunard Building -- and Royal Albert Dock, which is home to The Beatles Story, the Merseyside Maritime Museum and Tate Liverpool. The Cavern Club on Mathew Street, where the Beatles played their early concerts, is 10 minutes' walk away. Liverpool Football Club's Anfield stadium and Everton FC's Goodison Park, both open for tours, take about 15 minutes to reach by car.

Liverpool's two cathedrals are both less than 15 minutes' walk from the hotel. The Catholic cathedral is a crown-shaped space filled with coloured light, while the Anglican cathedral has the biggest nave in the UK and impressive views from its bell tower. St Luke's, a bombed-out church that's now a local landmark, is five minutes' walk from the hotel.

The hotel's guestrooms feature vintage and industrial-inspired furniture, and each has free Wi-Fi, a TV, a mini bar, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Higher-tariff rooms and suites add details such as designer toiletries, extra-large TVs and private terraces with city views.

Amenities include a fitness room (free to use) and Mason's All Day Kitchen & Bar which serves breakfast, cocktails, light bites and dinner from 6pm. Guests can add on breakfast for £10 per person on arrival.

Got there late arrived at around 10pm. Feel like if we arrived earlier would have had better service at reception. Had to go over to bar for the bottle of wine, lady who served us was lovely and made conversation with us. Was told there would be wine glasses in the room but there wasn't so had to call reception, took longer than I would expect on a quiet Sunday night for the glasses to arrive, but when they finally did they were nice and clean. Had a fan already in the room which I was very pleased about and was already on, was a bladeless fan which was definitely needed as it was a hot summers night and if there wasn't one already int he room when I would have also asked for one at reception. I really like the style of the hotel modern design, in its own way which is definitely making a trend. Had a fridge mini bar, don't know if it wasn't on or what but it was not cold at all inside. Room was clean and I enjoyed my stay.

Excellent location, great staff, lovely modern room. The only negative being the room was to hot. They had put a dyson fan in to try & cool the room down. I can't believe a new hotel doesn't have air-con. I would definitely return, but in Autumn or Winter when hopefully the rooms would be cooler. Breakfast at Masons, was thoroughly enjoyable, great choice & value for money.

Breakfast was to die for, everything that we wanted and more in Mason's. Rooms were REALLY hot, Staff provided a fan but this did not cool the room, the higher the floor the warmer the room, we had to sleep ontop of the bedcovers. Bar closed at midnight which is a little early fo the area. Hotel bar only had sparkling water or lemonade for mixer which is poor, although you are able to use adjacent Mason's bar for drinks. The location was spot on for night life, bars and restaurants. Lots of big shops very close by. Walking distance from Lime Street Station and nearby attaractions. Loved Liverpool.

it was a lovely hotel, it was a little noisy in the reception, the music was far too loud. the rooms could benefit from having Air conditioning, there was not enough lighting around the mirrors in the bathroom and in the room itself,
