Castello di Baccaresca sits within 250 hectares of countryside in a picturesque valley in the Umbria region of Italy. With a history that dates back to the 12th century, the castle is now an elegant retreat with an outdoor swimming pool.
Situated on a hillside and surrounded by thick forest, the property offers impressive views of the Italian countryside from every angle. Umbria is not just characterised by its mountains and valleys, however. We recommend visiting Lago Trasimeno (around an hour's drive away), where you can take a boat trip to Isola Maggiore, and Cascata delle Marmore, a 165-metre-high waterfall created by the ancient Romans (around 75 minutes' drive from the hotel). Assisi, Gubbio and Perugia -- picturesque hilltop cities with many historic churches and houses -- are all within 40 minutes' drive of the hotel.
Castello di Baccaresca features its own wellness centre, including a sauna, a salt room, a Turkish bath and more (supplements apply). The Locanda del Castello di Baccaresca restaurant is housed in medieval stables within the castle grounds, and serves a range of traditional, handmade dishes prepared using locally sourced ingredients.
Each of the hotel's 29 bedrooms is uniquely decorated and furnished, and all rooms have free Wi-Fi and air conditioning.
