Overview
Nestled on a side street in the Central Business District, the Catahoula Hotel is, in many ways, a microcosm of the cultural mashups for which NOLA is famous. The hotel itself is a restored 19th-century Creole townhouse, bedecked with contemporary artwork and also featuring the Peruvian-style Pisco Bar in its lobby and rooftop. Although its eclectic vibe certainly appeals to more adventurous travelers, its prime location and whimsical drink menu have earned the Catahoula honorable mentions from The Telegraph, Eater New Orleans and Conde Nast Traveler, which described the rooftop bar as, "one of the city's best."
By the hotel's own admission, standard guest rooms are cozy but still include modern amenities and even a few extras. Free Wi-Fi is available everywhere on the property, bathrooms are outfitted with rainfall showers and flat-screen smart TVs come standard. Plus, all room types are furnished with custom-made desks and vanities built from Louisiana cypress wood. For more space and a better view, consider reserving a premier room or one of the master bedrooms.
While the Central Business District is extremely walkable, public transit remains close at hand. It's less than four blocks to the South Rampart at Poydras trolley stop, and from there a 20-minute ride to the Garden District.
