Overview

Brookfield House Hotel is on the edge of the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This family-run property is less than five minutes' drive from Emsworth Harbour. From there, you can follow the Sussex Border Path around Thorney Island. It's a great place to spot migrating birds or the seals that breed in the area, or just watch the comings and goings of the harbour.

West Wittering, around 30 minutes' drive from the hotel is on the eastern side of Chichester Harbour and has a Blue Flag sandy beach lined with pastel-coloured huts. Less than five minutes' drive from there is East Head, a National Trust area with sand dunes and salt marshes.

The bustling city of Chichester, known for its 900-year-old cathedral, is 15 minutes' drive away, while Portsmouth, with its rich maritime history, is around 20 minutes' drive from the hotel. You can visit Portsmouth Historic Dockyard -- where you'll find the Mary Rose Museum, a museum dedicated to Henry VIII's warship, and the National Museum of the Royal Navy -- or 170-metre-tall Emirates Spinnaker Tower, which has panoramic views of the Isle of Wight and south coast.

The hotel has a restaurant, a bar and a garden you can sit and enjoy on a spring day.

The location was ideal for visiting Emsworth and other places of interest. The food was very good with plenty of choice.

On our arrival we did not find the staff very friendly or helpful. However the following day (Monday) the staff were more than happy to serve us and were polite while carrying out their duties. Consistancy of customer service skills within the team would improve the overhaul experience for the guests.

Pleasant staff, cleanliness, lovely walks nearby, food.
Other Comments
Food was good, excellent value for money, big white fluffy towels in the bathroom, very well equipped bedroom (not that we did any ironing!). We felt the plan to charge guests £5 to park at the hotel was misguided but they did not charge us as we booked before the start date.

Friendly atmosphere, quiet bedroom, well placed to get to places on the coast
Other Comments
When we booked we rang to ensure that we would get a quiet room at the back but this request had not been noted when we booked in. The right room was however found eventually. The garden in the sunshine was lovely for the cream tea

The location

The staff, apart from the 2 male maitre de’s & the cleaning staff was poor. I couldn’t make out if they were surly because we’d booked via travel zoo, or if that’s just the way they are but it certainly didn’t offer a warm welcome.

The dining room was very well appointed with white table linen. The tables were carefully spread out. The service was excellent. The Hotel Manager, Andy, was friendly, very efficient and highly organised. There bed was very comfortable and the towels were suburb ~ thick, large and very good quality.
