Cala Blanca’s plum attraction is its panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, but the resort is also in a convenient location for activities and sightseeing excursions across Gran Canaria. Perched on a rugged mountainside above the sea, this all-apartment hotel occupies a whitewashed Mediterranean-style property lined with tiered balconies.
It’s around a 15-minute walk to the Lago Taurito waterpark and 10 minutes’ drive to Amadores Beach. Puerto de Mogán, where “the architecture and bridged waterways are as pretty as a chocolate box, and the whole place exudes an air of opulence and charm” (Lonely Planet), is about 15 minutes’ drive away and Palmitos Park, “part botanical garden, part zoo” (Fodor’s), takes around 30 minutes to reach by car. The capital Las Palmas, “with its buzzing nightlife and sandy beaches” (Rough Guides), is a 50-minute drive from the hotel.
Cala Blanca’s leisure facilities include an outdoor pool, tennis courts and table tennis, as well as a fitness room, a sauna and a hot tub (fees may apply). Dining options include a restaurant serving international dishes and offering a children’s menu, and there’s a poolside bar and regular summer barbecues. Other amenities include a grocery shop, an outdoor play area and a game room, and a shuttle bus runs to nearby destinations (surcharge).
The resort’s clean modern feel extends to its 1- or 2-bedroom self-catering apartments, which are decorated in a simple style and feature wood furnishings and patterned fabrics. All the apartments have balconies or terraces, and come with free Wi-Fi, kitchens and living space with sofa beds, plus TVs, DVD players and iPod docks.
