Why We Love This Hotel

  • Literally just a few steps from Chicago's famous Magnificent Mile
  • Bright, airy rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and 65-inch flat-screen TVs
  • Excellent views greet guests upon arrival at the 20th-floor skyline lobby
  • "If you want to feel like you’re in the center of the buzzy city, it’s hard to beat this location" (Forbes Travel Guide)

Midcentury modern style meets an urban escape overlooking the Magnificent Mile at a hotel that's "as stately as they come" with an "elegant and sophisticated space" (The Telegraph UK). Every visit starts with a trip to the hotel's 20th-floor skyline lobby, and while you're at it, stop by the virtual-reality concierge for an Oculus VR headset tour of Chicago, including the view from atop the John Hancock.

Rooms range from the Superior King to a variety of suites and studios; the 65-inch TVs are some of the largest offered by a hotel in the city, and mornings start a little easier when the Nespresso coffee maker gets things going. Michigan Avenue View rooms let you gaze down on the Mag Mile and include granite countertops in the bathrooms, digital key entry, plenty of USB plugs for your devices, plus free Wi-Fi.

For Midwestern flavor, Baptiste & Bottle on the lobby level "is worth the trip alone" (Conde Nast Traveler), serving a parade of bourbon and whiskey drinks (some mixed tableside) alongside a menue of roasted chicken, lamb and steak. Guests can reserve spa treatments at the Conrad's sister property, the nearby Waldorf Astoria Chicago.

The hotel sits at the heart of the Mag Mile — the famous new Starbucks Reserve is directly next door — with Water Tower Place and the Hancock to the north, the river and the theaters of the Loop to the south, and Navy Pier a few minutes to the east.

Wonderful experience from start to finish. Absolutely enjoyed everything about the Conrad - every person we came in contact with had a customer first attitude and went out of their way to make our stay very welcoming. We have already scheduled another long weekend at the Conrad. A great location for an elegant get-away. I would suggest going to the Driehaus Museum only one block away to see how the truly wealthy lived during Chicago's past and be treated likewise upon your return to the Conrad. Be prepared for a real elegant treat.

Hotel was beautiful! Our room didn't quite hit my expectations for a hotel of this star rating. There was dust on the top of the light switches, the glass shower door, the black out shades didn't close all the way and some of the lights needed bulbs replaced. None of these are major issues, but for a hotel of this caliber? Expectations are higher. My TravelZoo deal was exceptional though! Low room rate, included valet parking and breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The restaurant charges $19 per person(on their menu) for their breakfast buffet. This buffet is so unworthy of that price. I've actually had much better breakfasts at 3 and 3.5 star hotels. There was oatmeal, a small selection of bagels & muffins, dry cereal and a fruit tray. For $19 per person. I get it, we're in Chicago at what is supposed to one of the nicest hotels in Mag Mile. But, why not live up that expectation and provide your guests with a real deal? We were definitely disappointed by the breakfast. Overall, it was a good trip, but next time? I'll stay at Hampton Inn. I'll have just as nice of a stay, cleaner room, no grossly overcharged fee for parking and definitely a breakfast that that doesn't leave me feeling taken advantage of.

It was a great deal until we got our bill. They are charging us for the valet and now I’m waiting for them to check receipts. So hopefully I’ll get my refund.
