Set in an 18th-century townhouse in one of Paris’ most exclusive residential neighbourhoods, the Radisson Blu Le Dokhan's Hotel is “as intimate as they get”, says Conde Nast Traveller.

In keeping with the property’s refined architecture, the interiors are impressive, with marble columns in the lobby and original engravings by Picasso and Matisse.Guests are whisked up to their rooms in a tiny lift, impeccably finished to look like a Louis Vuitton trunk, complete with brass fixings and golden initials.

Just as glamorous is Le Dokhan’s Bar, thought to be the first Champagne bar in Paris, which serves more than 70 varieties. Decorated with wood panelling, highlighted with gold and antique furniture, it is popular with locals and guests alike and hosts monthly tastings accompanied by live jazz. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea are also served here, or guests can opt for room service for more informal dining (available 24 hours a day).

This property was once a family residence, and the rooms, while comfortable, are on the small side. However, the period-inspired décor includes canopied beds in every bedroom, and modern touches include air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. Upgrade to a Deluxe Room, and request one with a private balcony for extra luxury.

Discreetly hidden behind the Trocadéro, the hotel is within 15 minutes’ walking distance of sights like the Arc du Triomphe and the Champs Elysées, yet still wonderfully quiet. There are two metro stations within a 2-block radius, giving access to two metro lines (1 and 6). The hotel is also perfectly positioned for a walk down the Avenue du President Wilson, where you’ll find little-known gems, such as the Musée Guimet, the Paris Museum of Modern Art and the Palais de Tokyo, and excellent views of the Eiffel Tower at every corner. Go after dark for a 5-minute sparkling light show (every hour, on the hour from sunset until 1am).

From the press:
  • “If not for the porters walking through its public areas carrying luggage, you might suspect that this well-accessorized hotel was a private home” -- Frommer’s
  • “If you're looking for excellent service and glamour in a romantic and small-scale setting, this is the place for you” -- Condé Nast Traveller
