The Olde Barn Hotel is 15 minutes' walk from the village of Marston, which is mentioned in the Domesday Book. You can walk the Beanholme or Witham trails, which start at the village hall and vary between 2-5 miles in length.

The hotel is less than 10 minutes' drive from the Grantham Canal, a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The reed beds are home to rare bird species including the sedge warbler, reed warbler and reed bunting, and the towpath has been rebuilt as a walking and cycling route.

Easton Walled Gardens, Lincolnshire's own lost garden that's home to snowdrops, sweet peas, roses and meadows, is 15 minutes' drive away.

Newark-on-Trent is around 20 minutes' drive away. Here you can explore the Georgian market square or Newark Castle and Gardens, home to dungeons, Victorian gardens and an exhibition about King John.

Sconce and Devon Park, with woodland walks, a nature reserve and a 17th-century Civil War earthwork fortification, and Newark Air Museum are both less than 20 minutes' drive away.

The hotel's restaurant showcases original period features and has wrought ironwork and beams. Menus change daily and include seasonal ingredients. There is a stylish and contemporary bar that serves local beers and traditional hearty dishes.

Other facilities include an indoor swimming pool, a sauna, a hot tub and a steam room. There is also a gym and a solarium, and beauty treatments are available (supplements apply; pre-booking advised).

Rooms are in modern wings that adjoin, and have indoor access to, the original barn.

The fact that we had to cancel/postpone due to Covid 19, no problem at all deferring holiday to later date

Very good room, although the beds were far too hard for our liking. Evening bar meal was decent without being anything special. Breakfast was equally quite satisfactory, although the dining/breakfast room looked a little dated and 'tired'.

Very pleasant. Lovely and quiet and restful. Facilities such as sauna and pool are very welcome treats. High standard of cleanliness is obviously a high on the hotel's agenda and is perfect! Staff are efficient and friendly and manage to make the customer relaxed and, unusual for today's fast - paced society, feel, 'at home!' Such a joy!!

However, we were disappointed in the main course at dinner - The poached chicken was inedible and we left it all whilst commenting to the waiter, The first and third course were both delicious. Although the, 'help yourself' breakfast was truly beautiful - the dining room itself was a little chaotic. For example, the boiler from which you used to collect the water for your tea were unsuitable for the purpose. A queue formed as water poured slowly from the appliances. It would be a good idea to revise and rethink the hotel methods in this area as I believe a generous supply of hot drinks, easily assessed, are somewhat essential, in the early hours of the day, to the British public!! Apart from this criticism, we had a wonderful time at he Olde Barn Hotel.

The £99 two night B&B deal with one dinner was very good value. The room was very clean, nice bathroom with hot water and a bath as requested. I used the swimming pool which was a nice area. The food in the restaurant was average.
