Bounded by the magnificent Rocky and Selkirk mountains, Glacier Mountaineer Lodge is a nature lover’s paradise. During winter, this ski-in/ski-out lodge is the ideal place to explore the area’s snowmobiling trails and ski hills. In summer, the region’s mountains transform to excellent mountain biking and hiking trails.
The lodge is spread across two buildings, nestled in the heart of the village at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Restaurants are plentiful here -- fill up on warming burgers or nachos at Peaks Grill, go for fine dining or tuck into sushi -- and there's a grocery store for snacks and provisions for home-made meals.
It also offers one of the largest vertical ascents of any resort in North America and there's easy access to the slopes via the Golden Eagle Express gondola, which rises up the mountain from right in front of the hotel. Free storage for bikes, skis and snowboards is provided on site on a first-come, first-served basis.
Rooms all offer mini kitchens, free Wi-Fi and DVD players (DVD rentals are available at the front desk), while the spacious suites have bigger kitchens (with washers and dryers), living areas, gas fireplaces and private balconies as well. After a day spent exploring the outdoors, guests can unwind in one of the hotel’s two saunas and steam rooms (one in each building), or take in mountain views from either of the two outdoor hot tubs.
Note: There is a 2% hotel city tax and a CA$2 eco-stay environmental fee.
