It's a short walk from the banks of the River Nent and a 5-minute drive from Alston, which is known for its cobbled streets and 17th-century stone buildings.

The ruins of Penrith Castle, which was built in the 14th century, are approximately 40 minutes away by car, while Ullswater in the Lake District and Hadrian's Wall are around 50 minutes' drive from the hotel.

There's a cosy feel to Nent Hall Country Hotel's interiors, which include a lounge area with plush sofas and antique furnishings. The Coach House Inn serves hearty meals and features a wood-panelled bar and a fireplace, and the Valley View Restaurant is open for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings. The hotel's peaceful garden is dotted with patio areas and picnic tables.

Hotel is very remote but an absolute gem if you are a walker or want a complete break away from things. Food was exceptionally good value & super quality. Staff were faultless, nothing was too much trouble & all done with perfect manners & good humour. Loved it.

We had a lovely time. Ideal for access to Lakes, Hadrian's Wall / Northumberland National Park, and all surrounding areas. On returning from a day's walking we were asked if we had anything wet that needed drying - a lovely offer. Decor a little tired around the edges perhaps, but clean, warm & dry with friendly staff, comfy bed, decent breakfasts & dinner- what more do you need

The couple of days we had in the location were excellent. The staff were pleasant and attentive. Our room was beautifully furnished in warm and lustrous mahogany with a superb bathroom. Enjoyed the food too.

Nent Head is a wonderful location which I have passed four times when cycling the Coast to Coast. Perhaps the hardest and most beautiful cycle path across the U K .
