The inn is on the Medieval high street, surrounded by boutiques and antique shops. Amersham is known for its abundance of eateries, including Michelin-star fine-dining restaurants.
Wyvern restaurant is named after the 2-legged dragon on King Henry VII's coat of arms. It has a seasonal British menu, and offers hearty Sunday roasts and traditional afternoon tea.
With over 150 listed buildings, much of the old town is a conservation area. The town's centrepiece is the 17th-century Market Hall, five minutes' walk from the inn.
Amersham has served as the backdrop for well-known productions, including "Midsomer Murders," "Poirot," and "Cuckoo". Fans of "Four Weddings and a Funeral" can spot the inn's exterior in a scene.
The surrounding Chilterns Hills National Landscape provides ample opportunity for walking and cycling.

We stayed in a nice, quiet room in the annex behind the main building. All good.

Interesting 16th century coaching inn, perfectly placed in the centre of the High St in Old Amersham.
We had booked an meal elsewhere, so cannot comment on the evening menu, but the breakfest was very good and unhurried, in a nice environment.

We loved the beautiful location and quirky historic nature of this hotel, having spent three nights celebrating our anniversary here. The staff were exceptionally helpful, food absolutely delicious and plentiful, and using the Travelzoo vouchers the value for money was exceptional. Had the log fire been burning and cobwebs dusted from the very high beams in our historic room, we would’ve given five stars all round!
We would definitely return and recommend this hotel.
