Why We Love This Hotel

  • Within 3 miles of 12 different spots to crack into fresh-caught Maine lobster
  • Less than a 10-minute drive to the historic Nubble Lighthouse, York's Wild Kingdom Zoo and over 50 flavors of ice cream at local favorite Dunne's
  • Water features are everywhere -- the Inn overlooks Long Sands Beach and has three pools on site, two indoor and one outdoor, plus a hot tub

Sitting along 2 unbroken miles of shoreline, the Anchorage Inn offers guests unfettered access to the water and sweeping views of nearby Cape Neddick -- you can even spot the Nubble lighthouse, at the far point of the cape, from the rear deck of the hotel.

The Inn itself feels quintessentially New England-by-the-sea thanks to its shiplap exterior and high-pitched roofline. The beachy vibe extends to guest rooms, too, which are decorated in aqua and seafoam green with white furnishings and vantages of the water. For the best views, we recommend upgrading to one of the Ocean Suites -- they come with private balconies that are great for getting lost in the crashing waves.

The on-site Sun & Surf Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and specializes in New England classics like clam chowder and lobster rolls. There's also a seasonal poolside cafe, where guests can find light snacks and libations throughout the day.

Definitely "off-season", but that was expected. Very pleasant check-in, but no suggestions for "things-to-do" or places to eat were offered. (We hadn't asked.)
Other Comments
The second-floor room (reached by elevator OR stairs) was large and very clean; the heat worked well. The view of the ocean was fine. A minor quibble - Because the room was in the "main building", a walk across the parking lot to the pool would have been required; we chose NOT to do that in the 40-degree weather.

The room was nice but not for the money.

In the add, it looks like you are staying at the light house or next to it. The “room” was nice but the first floor view was just ok and they put us in the corner room. The price goes up 25 dollars per floor. A lot of noise above us. Walls are paper thin. The manager Patty was not helpful at all, especially with the upper rooms not being booked and the front desk girl wasn’t helpful either. I didnt get her name. Just stingy and non helpful

We had an issue with the room and fell in love with Maxine when she came to resolve it.

The indoor pool area was nice. The water was warm and the air temp was also very warm and comfortable.
Other Comments
The room was cramped. I would not want to stay there for more than a long weekend (2 adults with a small child). The beds seems to only be a full size and the floor space to walk around each other was limited.

Other Comments
very quaint

It was off season so we had most of the building to ourselves! Everything is very well appointed, especially the bathroom.
Other Comments
The only complaint I would have is with the linens, the towels, sheets, etc. were extremely scratchy. A minor complaint.
