Rooms & Rates
Lauderdale-by-the-Sea’s newest beachfront boutique hotel opened in spring 2017. Nicknamed the "Great American Beach Town," Lauderdale-by-the-Sea is free of chain restaurants and branded hotels; instead, its 1.5 square miles are populated by mom-and-pop shops and boutique inns. A barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal, the tiny enclave is peppered with palm trees, golf courses and fishing piers.
Plunge Beach Hotel stays true to the town’s mid-century, low-rise theme with three buildings featuring unique aesthetics to please all tastes. The hotel’s Island Building across from the beach is home to the market place, fitness center and gastropub. Its rooms have views of the property, while suites offer partial views of the ocean. Beach Building rooms face the pool or ocean and are located near the lively bar and pool scene. Adjacent to the Beach Building, the bungalows are directly on the beach with pool and ocean views, kitchenettes and space for up to four guests. All accommodations include free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, minifridges and subway-tile bathrooms with oak vanities and walk-in showers; some also have balconies.
Guests are encouraged to unplug and take in the sights and sounds of the ocean with free beach chairs and towels, volleyball nets set up in the sand, bike rentals and access to snorkel gear, paddleboards and skim boards. The resort also features a pool with ocean views and a 24-hour fitness center.
The town’s only toes-in-the-sand beach bar, Backflip serves local beers, tropical cocktails and Mexican street food with live music on the weekends. In June, guests can stop into the on-site coffee shop for locally brewed Bean and Barnacle coffee, pastries, sandwiches and gelato. Opening in July, the Octopus Gastro Pub’s menu will offer seafood fresh off the boat.
