One of Cambridge's newest hotels, Tamburlaine opened in March, 2017. This £50 million property has caused quite the stir, with The Daily Telegraph claiming it "represents a remarkable step forward" for the city's hotel scene and describing it as the "most exciting opening in years".
Tamburlaine is next to Cambridge railway station, and most of the city's attractions, including Cambridge University Botanic Garden, King's College Chapel, the Fitzwilliam Museum and Trinity College, are within a 25-minute walk.
The hotel is named after "Tamburlaine the Great" -- a 16th-century play written by Christopher Marlowe, who studied at the city's Corpus Christi College. The play is set in central Asia and there is an Asian influence in some of the hotel's décor -- The Times notes the "geometric patterns on carpets, neat hexagonal tiles in the lobby, and fine bone china with Middle Eastern designs".
There are 155 bedrooms, a lobby with modern chandeliers and a library with a "cosy atmosphere... induced by sagging bookshelves, panelled walls and snug furniture" (The Daily Telegraph). There's also a brasserie restaurant, a cocktail bar, a deli and a colonial-style garden room where guests can enjoy cream tea -- Stylist describes the room as a "visual dream".
Update (4pm, 31 October): the garden room is now closed to the public.

This is the third time we have stayed at the Tamberlaine. it is a lovely hotel.
Very comfortable.

For some strange reason the beds are harder than we experienced on our first visit and we
like a softer bed as suffer with back/hip pain. If the bed was softer we would have enjoyed it that much more.

The hotel was new so everything was perfect. The bed was so large & comfortable, we did not want to get up in the morning. The food was plentiful & very tasty. All of the staff we met were professional, friendly, courteous & knowledgeable. We could not fault the hotel in any way. A very pleasant stay.

The service was very good, especially Tim the Concierge he was very attentive and very funny. The
decor is very tasteful.

The hotel does not have its own car park so the nearest one is the station car park. When I arrived at mid-day on Saturday for two nights I was very lucky to find a parking space it was very busy. Parking charge is reasonable at the weekend it is £5 a day, I found the app cumbersome which I had to used as the 'park and pay' machine was out of order.
Travel zoo stated the room could take 3 adults (additional nightly charge) but when phoning the hotel this isn't the case their rooms only take 2 adults and a 'put you up bed' on request for under 10 year olds.
