"The Staff, food and location of the hotel were exceptional, especially the receptionist. To make this hotel exceptional overall would be to update the décor, and radiators (even though might I add they did their job!) they were the oldest radiators I have ever seen. Everywhere was clean and tidy, thanks to the conscientious lady, that was on her own when we stayed but still got around every room, well done keep up the good work . A lovely couple of days and would definitely go back."

Overview

The Fourcroft Hotel is in Tenby, a seaside town on the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, that is described as a "postcard-maker's dream" by Lonely Planet.

This Georgian townhouse is on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and overlooks Tenby's old fishing harbour on Carmarthen Bay, and has its own private path down to the Blue Flag North Beach.

It's a 10-minute walk from Castle Beach and the town centre, where you'll find the Tenby Museum and Art Gallery, and an array of pubs, cafés and independent stores. Boats run to Caldey Island from Tenby Harbour, every day except Sunday, throughout the summer months. The Blue Lagoon Water Park and the Oakwood Theme Park are both less than 30 minutes away by car.

According to The Daily Telegraph, "the soul of Fourcroft comes from the sprinkle of personal touches, such as salvaged cinema seats from the local picture house and walls of family photos." The baby-blue hotel, which was built in 1832, features a restaurant with bay views, as well as a bar, a heated outdoor swimming pool (seasonal), a hot tub, a sauna, a games lounge and gardens.

We did feel the bedrooms and bathroom needed a paint job but we realise it's a big hotel to maintain.

Lovely location overlooking North Beach. We upgraded to a sea view room which meant we could see the bay from our bed each morning. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the cooked breakfast was to order, with a selection of cereal, fruit and yoghurt. The corridors and our room were a little on the tired side as could do with refreshing, but this didn't affect our time there. Large room with big sea view window and a comfy bed. Hospitality tray refreshed each day and clean towels. Also managed to park further along the Esplanade for free during our stay. The hotel is a level walk into town, and we both loved Tenby and the whole area as had the luck of 2 sunny, rain free days to explore, despite the rainy winter season. We will be back.

Very warm and pleasant welcome from a happy smiling receptionist who was kind enough to carry our bags to the room. The room was fine with a sea view and facilities to enjoy it. The food was good, as was expected and all the staff were polite and helpful. I will certainly recommend this hotel and with luck be back for a further visit.

There was one thing I found odd, why could you have either beens or tomatoes for breakfast, but not both? It's the first time my wife and I have come across this after years of staying in hotels or B & B's. A small matter but one I thought worth mentioning.

Excellent choice at breakfast and staff really friendly, also nice easy walk into town
Other Comments
Not suitable for people with walking difficulties as although there is a lift you have to go up 10 stairs to access it, we were o.k. but most people our age wouldn't be able to manage.
