Overview

Converted from a convent built in the 18th century, Hotel Forum has "cinematic views of ancient Rome across the avenue so impressive that it's drawn celebrities and socialites, like Jackie Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor, and Brigitte Bardot", says Fodor's. Its other notable guests have included King Gustav of Sweden and even the Dalai Lama.

The 4-star property is in Rome's historic district, next to the Roman Forum (an archeological site that was the centre of the Roman Empire), less than 10 minutes' walk from the Colosseum and less than 20 minutes from the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps.

Breakfast is served in the hotel's Roof Garden restaurant, which has panoramic views of the Forum of Nerva and the Temple of Augustus. The restaurant is also open for lunch (daily) and dinner (Monday-Saturday), and serves both Italian and international cuisine.

Rooms are decorated in a refined, classic style, and some have views of the Forum. The Superior Rooms New Style are more spacious than Classic Rooms and feature queen-sized beds and marble bathrooms. Wi-Fi is free.
