Ramada Dover is a "modern purpose-built hotel" (The AA) set in a quiet garden location between Canterbury and Dover -- a 10-minute drive from the iconic white cliffs "immortalised in song, film and literature" (Lonely Planet).
The 11th-century Dover Castle is around five minutes' drive from the hotel, and you can explore the medieval Great Tower, the secret wartime tunnels used in World War II, and the oldest surviving lighthouse in the country (visit the English Heritage website for admission charges and opening times). The hotel is also within 10 minutes' drive of the seaside, town centre and international ferry port. The historic city of Canterbury -- home to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Canterbury Cathedral, St Augustine's Abbey and St Martin's Church -- is less than 30 minutes away by car.
The Olive Tree Restaurant, named after the olive tree at the hotel's entrance, offers traditional English, Far Eastern and continental cuisine. There is a separate bar with an outdoor terrace (open in fine weather), and a Costa Coffee Lounge serving refreshments, light lunches and afternoon tea. The property also has a mini gym with a selection of cardiovascular machines (free for guests; open 24 hours).
According to The AA Hotel Guide 2017, bedrooms are "simply decorated with co-ordinated soft furnishings and many thoughtful extras". Wi-Fi is free throughout.
