DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Spa Chester
About the Hotel
Why We Love This Hotel
- This 18th-century manor house has its own extensive gardens
- It’s a few minutes’ drive from the attractions of Chester
- Rooms offer super king-size beds and Wi-Fi is free
The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Spa, Chester occupies a refurbished 18th-century manor house, set within 12 acres of landscapes gardens. The hotel is about two miles from the centre of Chester, where “history seems more tangible than in many other ancient cities” (Fodor’s).
Chester’s main attractions include the famous city walls, built in Roman and medieval times. To walk the walls in their entirety takes around an hour, passing landmarks along the way, such as the Roman Gardens and the Amphitheatre. Chester Cathedral houses a large and impressive Lego replica of itself, made from 350,000 bricks. Other popular attractions in the area include Chester Zoo and Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, both about a 10-minute drive away.
For food, the hotel is home to a Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill, or there’s the Garden Room, which serves a bistro-style menu. The hotel also has a 3-storey Club & Spa (extra charges may apply), where facilities include an indoor pool, a gym and treatment rooms.
Bedrooms are minimalist in décor, and offer super king-size beds and free, high-speed Wi-Fi.
