Overview

Somerville Hotel's looks out over the picturesque harbour of St Aubin in Jersey. It has a terrace where you can enjoy the views, manicured gardens and a small outdoor pool. Rooms are well presented have views of St Aubin's Bay or of the woodland at the rear of the hotel. Wi-Fi is free throughout, and there are tea- and coffee-making facilities in every room.

St Aubin is a few minutes' walk away and is one of the prettiest villages on the island. There's a beach and yachting harbour to explore, and plenty of bars and restaurants on its cobbled side streets. The island’s capital, St Helier, is a 15-minute drive away.

Dining out is a big part of a stay on this foodie island, and its sought-after produce plays a big part in the menus at the hotel’s Tides restaurant, in dishes such as seared Jersey scallops, souffle of Jersey blue cheese and line-caught Jersey sea bass. The island's proximity to France is reflected in the wines in the hotel's well-stocked cellar, but there are also plenty of New World bottles, too.

We arrived early at 8.30 am and the staff hotel made sure you our room was ready before the normal check in. We went out for breakfast and they called us to say the room was ready. ! hour later, so perfect timing after our nice breakfast in local coffee shop.

As on our first visit the hotel and it’s staff were great. Sadly the weather was dreadful so we weren’t able to get out and about as much as we would have liked. The food and the bar and service were excellent too. Fantastic breakfast choice and with the view from the restaurant overlooking the harbour a lovely experience.

The room we were allocated on this occasion was 302 which has two outer walls both with single glazed windows. As the weather was so horribly cold and wet the heating was wholly inadequate and I felt that the hotel staff knew this. On the second day of saying how cold it was we were given an oil filled radiator, which made all the difference. The couple in the room next to ours were in the same situation, but their heater didn’t materialise. There is talk of investment and alterations to be carried out early next year. I sincerely hope that this includes updating the heating system, as even in the short periods it was running (early morning and early evening) it was really feeble by the time it reached the wings of the top floor and did little to heat the rooms.
