"A relaxing, stylish place to enjoy good food" -- The AA

Why We Love It

  • This boutique hotel is in the seaside village of Carbis Bay, five minutes' drive from St Ives
  • Guests can use the facilities at Carbis Bay Hotel, which include a heated outdoor pool, a sauna, a hydrotherapy pool and a private Blue Flag beach
  • "High-standard" (The AA) Quirky Rooms are individually designed and have bespoke furniture

Cornwall is popular throughout the year, due to its "mild climate, breathtaking scenery and long stretches of sandy beach" (Condé Nast Traveller), and its Atlantic coast is dotted with some of the UK's most beautiful coves and bays.

The Gannet Inn is in the village of Carbis Bay on the North Cornwall coast. The country-style property opened in 2015 and has "unique interiors with all the style and finesse of a boutique hotel", according to The AA.

The art galleries and winding cobbled streets of St Ives are five minutes' drive away, while the hotel's sister property, Carbis Bay Hotel, is 15 minutes' walk away -- guests at The Gannet Inn can head there to use the hotel's spa facilities, outdoor pool and Blue Flag beach.

The Gannet Inn has a restaurant that serves classic British dishes, burgers and pasta, and a bar with a dartboard and a pool table. There is also a lounge with a fireplace and leather armchairs. Breakfast is served daily from 7:30-10am.

"Stylish, high-standard" (The AA) bedrooms are individually designed and soundproof, and feature neutral décor and bespoke furniture. Wi-Fi is free.

Cosy lounge areas, excellent food & attentive staff
Other Comments
Before arrival there was some suggestion that if they were full we would be put in their other hotel next door but one (‘The Atlantic’ ). Fortunately we weren’t because we wouldn’t have enjoyed staying there at all. It was all about sky sports on big TV screens & workmen propped up at the bar. Completely different atmosphere to The Gannet which was lovely.

Lovely food but even that was expensive but fortunately you get £40 off your bill through the travel zoo deal. Two courses each, a bottle of wine and pint was £90 (less 40) = £50 which was ok.
Other Comments
Overrated. The "quirky" rooms are simply tiny. Clean and tidy with all the facilities you would expect but probably the smallest hotel room weve ever stayed in and even though we had a deal through travel zoo its too much for what you get. The room overlooked decking and the car park! The games room has a pool table and dart board. You can use the facilities at the sister hotel but its a long walk uphill to get back. Overall its ok but not worth paying the sort of prices they quote on line.

Excellent introduction at reception. Clear, comprehensive and friendly.
Other Comments
Food is good but not excellent for a relatively expensive hotel. However restaurant prices are themselves relatively modest so probably reflects that.

Relaxed atmosphere

Parking with a bus stop into St Ives just outside the Inn (just over a mile from the centre of St Ives where parking is challenging)!
