Cornwall is popular throughout the year, due to its "mild climate, breathtaking scenery and long stretches of sandy beach" (Condé Nast Traveller), and its Atlantic coast is dotted with some of the UK's most beautiful coves and bays.

The Gannet Inn is in the village of Carbis Bay on the North Cornwall coast. The country-style property opened in 2015 and has "unique interiors with all the style and finesse of a boutique hotel", according to The AA.

The art galleries and winding cobbled streets of St Ives are five minutes' drive away, while the hotel's sister property, Carbis Bay Hotel, is 15 minutes' walk away -- guests at The Gannet Inn can head there to use the hotel's spa facilities, outdoor pool and Blue Flag beach.

The Gannet Inn has a restaurant that serves classic British dishes, burgers and pasta, and a bar with a dartboard and a pool table. There is also a lounge with a fireplace and leather armchairs. Breakfast is served daily from 7:30-10am.

"Stylish, high-standard" bedrooms are individually designed and soundproof, and feature neutral décor and bespoke furniture. Wi-Fi is free.

Parking with a bus stop into St Ives just outside the Inn (just over a mile from the centre of St Ives where parking is challenging)!

I would like to mention that the staff were really lovely both on reception and in the dining/ bar area.

The hotel was quite shabby for the price, carpets worn on all the stairs, blinds and draws were broken in our room, there were holes in the wall which had been filled with yellow foam, paint on the floor just wasn’t what I expected for the price. Also the swimming pool wasn’t at the hotel it was at a different hotel which was 20 mins walk away which I think was misleading from the listing. When ever you left the hotel you had to leave your key at reception we were told this was so we didn’t loose our key, however we came back early one day to find that they didn’t have our key and had given it to a contractor to fit signs in the room whilst we were staying there. We were in a rush and had to wait for the staff to track down our key in the hotel. I don’t think this should have happened and wasn’t pleased that somebody had come in our room when we had valuables in there. Overall just wasn’t a great experience and think it’s grossly overpriced for what it is.

For international (non-British) guests, the staff allocate rooms in the Atlantic Inn, a sister property. This does not have kitchen, a bar that opens at 3 pm and a single staff who is often missing from the reception. We are used to holidaying overseas and were appalled by the standards at this British B and B. It is not child friendly or even adult friendly. There is a stiff atmosphere which is rather trying during holiday! Our room at the Atlantic Inn did not even have blackout blinds. Housekeeping standards were dismal, face towels were being used for wiping the bathroom floor as they were not given mops! It reminded me of the Gordon Ramsay show 'Hotel Hell'.

Found the hotel too far uphill from the Carbis Bay hotel. Room didn’t get serviced on 2nd day. Overall found it too expensive.
