Hever Hotel is in the Kent village of Hever -- known for its picturesque Tudor properties. The hotel is a 5-minute drive from the double-moated childhood home of Anne Boleyn, Hever Castle, which was built in the 13th century. Rich with Tudor artwork and furniture, it also has gardens, a lake, a woodland walk and a maze to explore.

The hotel is on the edge of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is full of nature reserves and hiking trails. Chartwell, the former home of Winston Churchill and now a National Trust property, is around 10 minutes' drive from the hotel. Hever Castle Golf Club, which has hosted PGA EuroPro Tour events, is next to the property.

The hotel has a main bar, an upstairs piano bar and a games room with a pool table. Breakfast and dinner are served in the Stables Restaurant, which has a rustic feel, with wooden beams and pillars. The hotel also has a gym, a tennis court and a games room.

Our room was next to a member of staff in the eves which was a little surprising, although it was a cheap 2 night break ! The key card system to our room was not working so every time we needed to return to our room a member of staff had to come with us to open the door, which was a little inconvenient

A nicely located hotel for Hever and Chartwell. The food was excellent. Not a huge menu but enough variety for two nights stay. Breakfast equally as good and very tasty.
Other Comments
The Hotel is a little care worn and our room had a large patch of damp on the wall. The bathroom was in very good order. There is a shortage of electric points. Not good to have an extension lead for kettle, TV, radiator and hairdryer. Although this sounds negative it was great value for money and we would visit again.

Staff were generally friendly and helpful. The room was warm and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and substantial. Due to a lighting issue at the entrance from the car park I sustained minor bruises and grazes from a fall over a low wall which was also poorly marked. My main concern was that the lighting was fixed to prevent further incidents of this nature. I was pleased to see that the lack of lighting was addressed for the following evening.

Room was ok, although I heard a man snoring next door!!

It was noisy as on Gatwick flight path and felt more like a motel than an hotel.

Excellent but a car is needed as the bus service is limited. A courtesy car to the castle would be welcome. We, both in our mid 80s, are regular walkers and were able to walk the mile luckily in good weather.

The snooker table was a bonus for us. Could a field footpath be created to the castle? Reluctantly we will not be returning as the trip was to see the castle and as we travel by bus and train your lovely hotel is not well placed for public transport.

Our room had no window although the door was glazed. It was well situated for visiting various stately homes.
Other Comments
