Overlooking the Gulf of Naples and with views of Mount Vesuvius, Grand Hotel Angiolieri is a 5-star boutique hotel and member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World that's set among citrus groves, gardens and an amphitheatre. It began life in 100BC as a Roman villa, before being converted into a convent by the Poor Clare order of nuns. In the early 19th century, it was transformed into a hotel.
The beach is a 10-minute walk from the hotel, or you can take the free shuttle. The ruins of Pompeii are 20 minutes' drive away. You can also take a ferry from the harbour at Seiano to Sorrento and the island of Capri.
Standard rooms feature handmade, hand-painted Vietri tiles in the bathroom, a flat-screen TV with Sky channels and free Wi-Fi. Superior Rooms have Jacuzzis and bay views. Deluxe rooms have a balcony or terrace; Suites add separate lounges.
