Overview

Sonoma Coast Villa & Spa is a quaint and charming stay located in California Wine Country. The hotel is an easy drive to more than 40 wineries in the Russian River Valley. The hotel is also located just six miles from Bodega Bay, a quintessential California coastline.

The rooms are spacious and relaxing with secluded patios and wood-burning fireplaces; most even have radiant heated flooring in the bathrooms. All king rooms also boast in-room Jacuzzi tubs. The décor is inspired by the Italian countryside, with slate flooring, rustic beam ceilings and calming earth tones.

The hotel restaurant, with new executive chef Ivan Rodriguez, serves dishes with organic ingredients and wines from the local wineries. The on-site nine-hole putting green is a nice activity between wine tastings as is the spa. Some of the best Sonoma wineries, as noted by Food & Wine magazine, are an easy 30-minute drive north into the Russian River wine region. The hotel is also close to several Sonoma County parks, where guests can take a picnic and soak up the natural beauty – or, for those who prefer retail therapy, the Coddingtown Mall, Montgomery Village and Santa Rosa Plaza are all an easy drive from the hotel.

The location is excellent and the property is lovely. We enjoyed strolling around the expansive grounds; the pool and hot tub were a treat and the customer service was outstanding. Dinner at Litchfields was a treat. And the breakfasts were far above what one usually finds at a hotel.

General Manager Erick Gardon does an admirable job of setting the tone at both the hotel and the restaurant. From check in to check out 2 days later, staff were friendly and actually seemed to care about our welfare and the fact that we chose Sonoma Coast Villa over the many options along the Sonoma coast. The level of customer service was excellent. Dinner at Litchfields was a pleasant surprise; living in San Francisco we have many dining options and were delighted with the quality of our meal. We can highly recommend both the duck and cioppino! And the beignets with fresh strawberries & cream were a tasty way to end the meal!

This is a very nice property and the room was fantastic. It was the perfect location to enjoy golf at Bodega Bay and golf at Monte Rio on the way home. I'd have to say the best part of our stay was having dinner at litchfield's. It's terrific and should not be missed. The general manager and Chef greeted us at our table and we're very approachable and knowledgeable about the dishes. We had a great time with beautiful weather

It is under renovation (and it really needs it). Nice place but needs a lot of work. Nice staff and the General Manager was great. When we had something go wrong he took care of it.

terrific hospitality. Excellent, beautiful food at Litchfields- we had a wonderful, memorable chefs' tasting menu experience.

dog friendly. Charming enclave. Rooms can use a facelift (bathrooms in particular) but everything else so nice about it, easy to overlook.

I did like the wine tasting.
Other Comments
Floor was dirty. Patio was filthy with leafs and spider webs everywhere. Sofa covering was stained as was the sofa itself. Gross. Bathroom had no window covering and sink needs to be replaced. Started a fire in the fireplace which set off smoke detector and filled bldg with smoke. Had dinner at Letchfields and both dinners were unedible.
