Radisson Blu Park Hotel, Athens is on the edge of Pedion Areos Park -- one of the largest in Athens -- and is a 5-minute walk from the National Archaeological Museum. The hotel has views over Athens including the Parthenon. This former temple, dedicated to the goddess Athena, was built in 447 BC and is set in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Acropolis Athens, which is just 20 minutes by public transport from the hotel. For more striking ancient ruins, visit the Odeon Theatre of Herodes Atticus, located next to the Acropolis.
The National Gardens are around 20 minutes by bus from the hotel and are home to the Temple of Olympian Zeus. A 10-minute walk from there is the must-see 6th-century-BC Panathenaic Stadium, made out of Pentelic marble. Both the stadium and the Odeon Theatre host concerts.
The hotel has a rooftop pool with panoramic views of the city which can also be enjoyed from St Astra's Blue Roof Garden Restaurant. Choose between the all-day Italian restaurant, Gallo Nero and top-floor restaurant, St Astra for a cocktail or Mediterranean-Asian feast.
A buffet breakfast is served in Gallo Nero, while grab-and-run breakfasts are also available. The hotel has a fully equipped gym and Wi-Fi is free.
Travelzoo tip: for a great viewing point of the Acropolis of Athens, climb Filopappou Hill.
