Overview

Hallmark Hotel Stourport Manor, a country house that was once the home of former prime minister Stanley Baldwin, is set in 23 acres of gardens on the edge of Stourport-on-Severn -- an inland port town built in the mid-1700s, where the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal meets the River Severn.

Kidderminster, where you can board a steam train on the Severn Valley Railway, is 15 minutes' drive away. The timber-framed Tudor buildings and Georgian architecture of Worcester are 20 minutes' drive from the hotel. You can visit the 11th-century cathedral to see its royal tombs, including the tomb of King John, and medieval cloisters.

West Midland Safari Park -- which is home to around 600 animals and has a drive-through safari, plus rides and attractions for children -- is 15 minutes' drive away, as is the Wyre Forest.

The hotel's facilities include a leisure club with an indoor swimming pool, a sauna and a poolside Jacuzzi, as well as a gym, a squash court, tennis courts and a 9-hole footgolf course.

The restaurant serves a brasserie-style menu of British classics and international cuisine. There's a terrace for al fresco dining, and a bar and lounge with a separate menu of light bites.

A few of the hotel's 72 bedrooms are in the original Victorian house, but most are in a modern building. Wi-Fi is free.

Very good location and comfortable hotel

Be careful of their dinner menu, especially the supplements if on half board. Their "Catch of the day" priced at £14.75 carries a £3.75 supplement, but on our evening was fishcakes! Quite how they "caught" them I was unable to ascertain.

Food very good
Other Comments
The service at dinner was slow which we didn’t mind but a fair few of the other diners were unhappy. Probably due to not enough staff on

It was close to where we live, the pool, sauna, steam & gym were good, room was lovely just needs some tweaking, staff were really friendly
Other Comments
There was a bit of an issue 're number of courses for dinner, the restaurant believed it was 3 courses but reception had booked it as 2 so the restaurant questioned it, I did have a confirmation email but hadn't taken my phone to dinner with me, it was a shame and we did wait quite sometime while the lady went to check

The ambience in the lounge and grounds was relaxing, the gym and pool was good and well organised.
Other Comments
The main reason was the overall running of the breakfast and dinner service which was disfunctional, staff in the morning appeared disinterested, no eye contact, no instructions or guidance about anything. Breakfast bar was unattended leading to poor quality and lack of produce on offer.
