Why We Love It

  • At the edge of the bustling Chinatown and Little Italy neighborhoods, steps from stylish bars, cozy restaurants and high-end shops
  • Sleek rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows; aim for the higher floors to get the best views
  • Great on-site cocktail bar with reasonable prices even by New York City standards
  • In the same neighborhood as famed New York eateries: Beauty & Essex, Dominique Ansel's Bakery and Katz's Delicatessen

Overview

The well-priced Wyndham Garden Hotel is a modern glass tower on the edge of bustling Chinatown, only a couple of blocks from the restaurants and bars of Little Italy, SoHo’s shops and the clubs of the Lower East Side. The nearest subway station (Grand Street) is one block from the hotel for rides to uptown attractions like the Empire State Building and Times Square (15-20 minutes away).

Guest rooms are comfortable and bright, offering large floor-to-ceiling windows and views of the city. Opt for a room on one of the higher floors for better views and less noise. Premium rooms on some floors have balconies with city views, or upgrade to a suite for a separate living room area with a sofa bed.

The on-site restaurant, Wu Room, serves American fare in a dimly lit, sultry venue. Located in the lower level of the hotel, the restaurant becomes a lively lounge at night and can get packed quickly. The hotel's 18th floor lounge features direct views of the Empire State building and the 19th floor rooftop bar provides panoramic views of Manhattan. The area outside the hotel is rife with classic dining options as well as famous New York restaurants, be sure to ask the staff for their expert suggestions.

The hotel is ideal for visitors looking for an authentic New York City experience off the beaten path. The hotel is still close enough to explore Times Square and other tourist hot spots but for guests looking to visit lesser known attractions like South Street Seaport, Battery Park, and outer boroughs, this hotel is a better bet.

Rooftop bar has amazing view towards the Empire State.Room was clean and well maintained.really like the floor to cieling window.

Good position for downtown sight seeing such as WTC memorial/Tribeca/soho but is in China town and you don't get the full NYC atmosphere so good for a couple of days then suggest heading elsewhere like uptown/ manhatton for other days.

The location. The staff was generally friendly. The rooms were a good size and were comfortable (with the exception of the AC issue).
Other Comments
The AC in my room broke my first night. I had to switch rooms at 5 AM, because I could not sleep in an 82 degree room. Because I was groggy, I accidentally left behind an expensive face wash. When I asked the staff about it the next morning, they couldn't turn it up. I guess they threw it away. Also, they charge to hold your luggage. I find that a bit ridiculous.

Clean rooms with comfortable beds and beautiful views.
Other Comments
They charge to hold your luggage at the front desk upon check-out. The bar at the top has spectacular views and reasonable prices, but the music is so loud that I struggled to have a conversation with my friend.

The area can feel a bit sketchy later in the evenings. Great service from the front desk. Decent on-site amenities.

Nice, courteous staff. Attended to my needs immediately.
Other Comments
One of two elevators worked. One courtesy bottle of water for two visitors is not ideal. Great room. Need more hooks in bathroom for towels. Impressive employees.
