The Spindrift Inn occupies a prime location on Cannery Row, Monterey Bay's liveliest street, made famous by John Steinbeck's novel of the same name. It's loaded with wine bars, breweries, tasty restaurants and boutiques, overlooking a picturesque stretch of Pacific Coast.
Rooms are romantic and plush, with big marble bathrooms and free Wi-Fi. Many even have a wood-burning fireplace and ocean view rooms are equipped with window seats and binoculars. Light sleepers should book rooms facing away from the street, and guests sensitive to the weather should be sure to specify they need a room with air conditioning.
Freebies include Wi-Fi, a simple but tasty continental breakfast each morning, and a nightly wine and cheese reception every night. Guests can take their drinks and snacks up to a pretty rooftop deck and for panoramic views. Otherwise, amenities are few here: there's no on-site restaurant, pool or fitness center, however considering the amazing location, this isn't really a problem.
