Overview

The Arbor City Hotel is a modern property in London's historic East End. The hotel was fully renovated in 2015, when the bedrooms, public spaces and the façade were given a complete upgrade.

The hotel is in Whitechapel -- once the haunt of Jack the Ripper, and where you'll now find the curry houses, bagel shops and nightlife of Brick Lane. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from Spitalfields Market, and three minutes from the Whitechapel Gallery -- a "ground-breaking gallery" known for its "edgy" contemporary art exhibitions (Lonely Planet). Aldgate East Tube station is a short stroll away, and you can be in the West End in 15 minutes via the District line. The hotel is a 15-minute walk from Fenchurch Street and Liverpool Street train stations.

The Lane Restaurant serves traditional British fare, such as fish and chips, and is open until 2am. There's also a cocktail bar and a private screening room.

The 115 bedrooms have been fully refurbished, and have bright, modern décor and free Wi-Fi. Superior Rooms are larger than the standard Club Rooms.

Clean, bright and well appointed.

Unfortunately we had a disturbed nights sleep. There was a constant drip drip sound that became louder in the quiet of the night. We believe it could have been the air conditioning system. This put a dampener on our stay as it was our 41st wedding anniversary we were disappointed to feel so tired the next day. Also we felt it possible this may have been reported before.

Great location for the city and a browse around the markets.

The staff were efficient polite and friendly. The bar staff were really helpful. The decor was relaxing and bed comfortable. All topped of with a pleasant breakfast.....would definitely recommend to others and revisit if rooms on offer again. I wouldn't pay full price and have rated value as three because full price would be too much.

Luxury at an affordable price. The whole hotel has been upgraded to a superior level. Our room overlooked the Gherkin and at night it was just a wonderful fairy land out there. Bed so very comfortable and the bathroom with plenty of room a great shower. We used the restaurant and it was good. The staff are so very friendly that we were made to feel at home straight away.
Other Comments
Perfectly situated for access from Aldgate East Tube and at the lower end of Brick Lane with all the restaurants and markets. It was though very quiet outside at night.

We were given an upgrade to a superior room. Nice boutique hotel and good breakfast
Other Comments
Although we were given a superior room the bathroom was very small. You could sit on the loo and clean your teeth! Lovely hotel though
