Built in 1939, the 4-star Triada Palm Springs is a fully-renovated luxury property just right for those looking to avoid the cookie-cutter corporate hotel experience. The hotel is located in the Movie Colony section -- named for the numerous Hollywood stars and bigwigs who owned homes here -- and the Spanish colonial style architecture has been carefully. During the 2015 renovation, the hotel’s owners consulted a local historical society to keep as much of the character as possible while modernizing other aspects.
The end result is a collection of rooms and casitas, each one uniquely shaped and designed. Most casitas have private outdoor space and full kitchens. All interiors blend old with new -- think frameless glass shower doors paired with Spanish tiling and stained wooden doors mixed with bright textiles.
Lush landscaping throughout the property offers blooming bougainvillea spilling over low whitewashed walls and bright bromeliads carpeting the grounds.
Spend time relaxing at one of hotel's pools -- there are freshwater and saltwater options. Or have lunch on the outdoor patio at the hotel’s casual restaurant Illuminata while taking in the awe-inspiring San Jacinto mountain views.
The hotel is steps away from local dining and activities if you need a change of scenery. Walk 10 minutes to the town’s main thoroughfare of North Palm Canyon Drive to do some window shopping and people watching.
