Located on the quieter south eastern side of Key West, the Hyatt Windward Pointe, a Hyatt Residence Club Resort is just right for those who dream of lazy day vacations. The oceanfront property is only a few minutes walk from Key West International Airport, so you can disembark and be by the pool in less time than it takes to apply sunscreen.
The property’s infinity pool is most likely where you’ll spend most of your time. Lushly landscaped and with expansive ocean views, it’s easy to while away the day sunbathing, snoozing and just gazing out at the sea. When hunger strikes, the Abbey Road snack shack has light bites and a full bar.
When the sun begins to wane, head back up to your condo and stretch out. Full kitchens with stainless steel appliances might tempt you to whip up your own meals and dine alfresco on your private veranda under the stars. There’s a supermarket a ten minute drive away to stock your fridge.
Or, take a quick shower or a long soak in the separate tub before heading out to the action of downtown Old Key West. A 10 minute cab ride will run you about $15 or you can rent scooters or bikes. You could take your own car but parking is notoriously difficult downtown. If schlepping into town sounds like too much of a hassle, there’s a Benihana and La Trattoria Italian restaurant next door to the hotel.
Word to the wise- there’s no breakfast served here so either prepare your own or be ready to drive into town to grab a bite.
Because of the proximity to the airport, some folks on Tripadvisor.com find that the airport noise can be a nuisance and suggest choosing the rooms furthest from the terminal. All airport traffic is halted at night, so the sound of planes may only be an issue during the day.
