Haselbury Mill is a cosy country hotel in rural Somerset. The converted Georgian mill and its surrounding stone cottages are set in 14 acres of landscaped gardens. There are two lakes on site and the River Parrett runs through the grounds. You can walk the River Parrett Trail, which passes by the hotel and follows the river south to North Perrott and Chedington.

The property is close to the Dorset border and is 10 minutes' drive from Crewkerne, a pretty market town that dates back to Saxon times. The area is popular with walkers -- Bincombe Beeches Nature Reserve is a short drive away and the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a little under half an hour from the hotel. It's around 35 minutes' drive from Glastonbury, Lyme Regis and West Bay beach, where the TV series "Broadchurch" is filmed. The market town of Yeovil is 20 minutes away by car.

The hotel's Lakeside Restaurant serves seasonal food from local suppliers. The bar has flagstone floors and oak-panelled walls.

There are 21 individually decorated bedrooms, all with free Wi-Fi. Standard Rooms are in the main house and have showers rather than baths. The larger Classic Rooms are split between the main house and the Lakeside building. Top-of-the-range Superior Rooms are in the coach house, and are larger still and more modern in style.

Our room was on the ground floor and there was continual noise from other room's showers, toilets flushing, could even hear snoring from other rooms. The restaurant prices were expensive for average menu. Also drinks prices. Lovely location but would not book again due to plumbing noises etc.

A lovely place to visit. Particularly liked the Haselbury suite. Some good national Trust properties to visit in this area.
