Overview

Haselbury Mill is a cosy country hotel in rural Somerset. The converted Georgian mill and surrounding stone cottages overlook a lake, and are in 14 acres of landscaped grounds.

The property is close to the Dorset border and is 10 minutes' drive from Crewkerne, a pretty market town that dates back to Saxon times. The area is popular with walkers -- Bincombe Beeches Nature Reserve is a short drive away and the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a little under half an hour from the hotel. It's around 35 minutes' drive from Glastonbury, Lyme Regis and West Bay beach, where the TV series "Broadchurch" is filmed. The market town of Yeovil is 20 minutes away by car.

The hotel's Lakeside Restaurant serves seasonal food from local suppliers. The bar, which boasts flagstone floors and oak-panelled walls, serves homemade pizzas and pies on Friday and Saturday evenings.

There are 21 individually decorated bedrooms, all with free Wi-Fi. Standard Rooms are in the main house and have showers rather than baths. The larger Classic Rooms are split between the main house and the Lakeside building. Top-of-the-range Superior Rooms are in the coach house, and are larger still and more modern in style.

Lovely hotel, really helpful staff

It was a shame that the pizza and pie food options were only available on a Friday or Saturday but restaurant menu was good. Could do with a larger bar area to sit indoors and have a bevy in the evening.

The staff were accommodating but powerless to help with the issues of the hotel.
Other Comments
The room we were allocated was damp and the wardrobe smelled musty. There was no mobile reception in the room and no signal anywhere we tried in the grounds. There was also very limited wifi connection which involved repeated attempts to sign in. The staff attempted to help and offered us the bridal suite...which was also damp and with no phone reception on either of our networks. We simply could not stay there and walked away from the money we had paid for the three nights. This was supposed to be a birthday celebration trip for my partner, but there was nothing really to celebrate about the venue. We have used your company for many trips away and have never had cause to complain before. That makes this experience doubly disappointing. Since we feel we got nothing for our outlay of over £200, maybe you could talk to the hotel about some recompense?
