Situated in a quiet corner of the historic Vieux-Port neighborhood, the Hotel Port Royal is still close to the action of Old Quebec, within a five-minute walk of Notre Dame de Quebec Cathedral and just two blocks from the Museum of Civilization. Chateau Frontenac is a 10-minute walk from the hotel, while the Plains of Abraham in Battlefields Park is a 20-minute drive.
The property’s architecture dates back to the 1860s but the interiors include modern conveniences and décor where trendy furnishings are set against exposed brick walls. The hotel has only forty rooms, all outfitted with kitchenettes, free Wi-Fi and flat-screen televisions. Upgraded suites have full kitchens and lounge areas separated by French doors. In the morning, breakfast is delivered to guest rooms.
The large outdoor terrace of Le Pub du View-Port serves up a wide selection of cocktails, shooters and wine to go along with the menu of pub fare. For a more elevated dining experience, guests of the hotel can indulge at Le Quai 19, which focuses on Quebec-centric flavours.

I called the hotel directly to ask when the Christmas markets were taking place before we made our reservations. After 5 1/2 hrs of driving we found out the markets would not be open while we were there. Very disappointed!!!! There were also3 women who traveled from Maine that got the same disappointing news. I know the Hotel staff are not tour guides but they need to be up front with people. If they don’t know the correct answer to a question be honest and say “ I don’t know “.. Very disappointed with the information. That was our main reason for coming there at this time year.

The Hotel Port-Royal was a wonderful experience. located just downhill from the gates of Old Quebec, our suite was immaculate, cozy and served as a comfortable respite after a day of tourist-ing. The staff we incredibly helpful, and eager to please. We had parking privileges in our booking, and we were able to come and go as well pleased. There is no doubt in our minds that our next trip to Quebec City will include a stay at this hotel.

This was our anniversary and first time back to Quebec since our marriage 41 years ago. We had a wonderful time with no lack of restaurants. Early November is not the best time to visit Quebec as we were between seasons with Christmas decorations just starting to be put up.

The Hotel Port-Royal was very nice. Like all buildings in Old Quebec what you get inside is not what you see on the outside. All the modern amenities are available to you including a small gym and cozy restaurant.

We spent 3 nights at the Hotel Port-Royal. It's location couldn't had been more perfect! The staff was delightful and ever so attentive, helpful and engaging. The room was amazingly spacious, offering a sitting area, bistro table for 2, comfortable King bed, and updated kitchen and bathroom. Having the Louise Tavern right next door was especially wonderful. We opted to go there for lunch and two dinners. Exceptional! Breakfast was included and had satisfying options. We definitely highly recommend the charming, hospitable Hotel Port-Royal!

Easy to get to from US. Parking onsite. Room was a bit cramped, but I did like the suite concept. Not enough outlets, as none was in bathroom so had to dry hair at foot of the bed. Room was a bit noisy as it was next to the laundry facilities where there was a lot of traffic. The breakfast was average, and the eggs were made from powder. Yucky.

Friendly service and good restaurant- make reservations! Super location and old world ambience. Some rooms don’t have WiFi due to the thick stone walls.

We got a special price through Travel Zoo. The hotel’s location for walking around the upper and lower parts of Old Quebec City was perfect . We were with another couple and parked our car and never used it until it was time to leave 4 days later. The on-site restaurant Louise bar and tavern breakfast was very good, so was the dinner we had. Staff in hotel and restaurant very friendly and helpful. We stayed last week of November and we were lucky the weather was in the 30’s so it wasn’t to bad walking around if dressed properly.
